These people hate GMWatch. Make ’em pay!

We badly need to fundraise and we thought rather than earnestly telling you why our work on everything from gene-editing to gene-drives to the harm done by pesticides is important, we could have a bit of fun at our critics’ expense instead.

The volleys of outlandish abuse we regularly receive are one of the things that keep us feeling GMWatch must be doing something right.

So what about making the attackers pay by supporting our work and showing them just how much their attacks are worth – to us!?

To kick things off, here’s a classic bit of abuse.

GMWatch part of a cunning Russian plot… but no Russian gold!

In a move that Senator Joseph McCarthy would have been proud of, Val Giddings, a former vice president of the Biotechnology Industry Organization, did his best to get GMWatch blacklisted by declaring us “an active part of Russian propaganda active measures while working to undermine society on multiple levels. No room for them [GMWatch] in civilized society.”

As we’ve not received a single rouble from our Kremlin paymasters, what about turning Giddings’ tinfoil (conspiracy theory) into gold?
