NOTE: The French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health Safety (ANSES) will report on Seralini's study on GM NK603 maize, which found that the maize, as well as tiny amounts of the Roundup herbicide it is grown with, caused tumours, premature death and organ damage in rats.

We have hopes that the ANSES review may be rigorous and objective. In 2011 ANSES issued a report condemning the food packaging chemical bisphenol A (BPA) as toxic, even in small amounts. ANSES's opinion caused a storm of controversy because it was in direct contradiction to that of EFSA, which said the chemical was safe at levels humans are exposed to. ANSES's opinion has led to the French government announcing a ban on BPA by 2014.

The French Agency for Food, Environmental, and Occupational Health Safety (ANSES) has announced that it will report on the study on GMOs by Professor Gilles-Eric Seralini on October 20.
