Greenpeace About a Presidential Veto: a Good Decision
Poland.pl, 24 August 2011
http://www.poland.pl/news/article,Greenpeace_About_a_Presidential_Veto_a_Good_Decision,id,460113.htm

President Bronislaw Komorowski has vetoed the bill on seeds, containing provisions on genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

Spokesman for Greenpeace Poland, Jacek Winiarski commented on the presidential decision:

"Greenpeace is very pleased with the president's veto. We believe that this is a step in the right direction and we are pleased that the President took into account public opposition. Studies say that 67 percent of Poles oppose genetically modified food. We are pleased that the President considered the consequences for agriculture, which – if this law came into force – could lose its competitiveness in the European markets. The strength of Polish food exports lies in the fact that our food is still healthy and natural".
