A panel entrusted by the Japanese Government to promote acceptance of GM products has released details of a poll that shows a majority of japanese firmly against GMOs.
The survey carried out by the government affiliated STAFF (The Society for Techno-innovation of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries) showed only 9% of those polled had a good image of GM food.
61% of respondents declared themselves to be reluctant to eat GM food. But 70% said they hadn't realised that oil and soy sauce do not have mandatory GM labeling.
