The continuing dumping of unwanted GM surpluses as food aid (item 1) is unforgivable.

During the last crisis in southern Africa the EU Trade Commissioner openly charged the US with using its foreign aid programme as a means to "dispose of its genetically modified crop surpluses". He pointed out that, "GM-free supplies are available in surplus in southern Africa."

A majority of hunger-stricken people are rejecting the genetically modified maize because they doubt its health status, parliament was told on Thursday.

Kukhanyeni MP Clement Dlamini charged the Deputy Prime Minister, Albert Shabangu, to review the continuous donation of the maize.
