1. Pro-life Campaigners Win Human Cloning Ruling

ProLife campaigners have won a High Court victory which they say shows there are no legal controls on human cloning in the UK.
Mr Justice Crane has ruled an organism created by cell nuclear replacement is not an embryo and therefore not covered by legislation.
Following the judgment the campaigners have called on the Government for emergency legislation.
The process, used to produce Dolly the sheep, was meant to be governed by the 1990 Act but the ProLife Alliance says the new ruling means there are no controls and the Government has no power to license or fund any form of cloning for experimental or live birth purposes.
Bruno Quintavalle, director of the pressure group, said after the judgment was given: "The upshot of the judgment is that there are no safeguards to stop any form of cloning in this country.
"The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority has no power to stop it; it isn't a criminal offence and there is nothing that any public authority can do. The law as it stands is hopeless and we are glad we have shown up the Government lie that human cloning in prohibited."
He called on the Government to introduce emergency legislation immediately and suspend the current worthless regulations.
The House of Lords select committee which had been investigating the subject for a year had been working on a totally false premise. It should be disbanded and replaced with a new committee, he says.
