The Mercury ABSTRACT
GlaxoSmithKline intends to commence trials of genetically-engineered (GE) poppies in Tasmania in 2002. GlaxoSmithKline research and field manager, Mike Doyle, indicated on 25 April 2001 its application had been delayed by the Tasmanian Government's announcement of a moratorium on GE crops. It is expected that GE poppy trials in the Ord River district of Western Australia will be planted by 27 April 2001
