The council of the Municipality of Valandovo reached a declaration which declares Valandovo a free zone with no genetically modified organisms, after the initiative of the environmental association Kalinka and coalition Macedonia without GMO. With this, Valandovo became the first such zone in eastern Macedonia and the fourth in Macedonia after Veles, Caska and Ohrid.

The mentioned declaration is the basis of the long-term strategy of branding and certifying of the ecological products of Valandovo. Next year, a mandatory sticker for agricultural products, which will confirm that they are GMO free, is planned.

2.Update on Polish anti-GM hunger strike
ICPPC - International Coalition to Protect the Polish Countryside, April 8 2009

Friends,

Edita and Danuta have finally ended their hunger strike. Edita had not eaten for 20 days and Danuta 12 days. They had to return to their farms in order to plant spring vegetables and cereals. On the day before they broke their fast, an assistant to the President promised to review their concerns. This then, was the one 'concession' to a very determined protest by the two women and a bundle of excellent letters of protest sent by you to the Prime Minister.
Several other people have been joining in a solidarity hunger strike: e.g. Jadwiga 6 days and Anna Bednarek, farmer and engineer also 6 days.

Sabine Groenveldt, a farmer in Germany, has issued a press release announcing her 'solidarity fast from home' and called on fellow Germans to join-in. This is true solidarity!

Edita, Danuta and Jadwiga thank all of you who sent letters most warmly for your efforts. It makes a huge difference to know that people from all over the world are supporting your cause; and letters did come from all over the world, from professionals (including two MEPs and four scientists) as well as from many properly motivated concerned citizens! Please, those of you who have not yet written, get onto the computer keyboard now!! The battle continues and can only get more intense.. since the Polish government still didn't make any real step.

Today, because of International Opposition Day against GMO there are several actions taking place in Poland: local protests, open fires for a GMO Free World, distribution of traditional seeds, educational meetings.

ONLY A BAN OF ALL GM PLANTING, GM ANIMAL FEED AND HUMAN GM FOODS CAN PREVENT A CATASPROPHE IN THE MAKING

and just a reminder ...

Highly reputable independent scientific research establishments in Italy, France, Austria and Russia, have, over the past 5 years, come up with the same alarming results when conducting feeding trials using GM animal feed formulations (maize or soy base) on rats: THE RATS DEVELOPED SEVERE LIVER AND KIDNEY DISEASES AND EXHIBITED A FAILURE TO REPRODUCE IN THE SECOND OR THIRD GENERATIONS.

Then last year, the CRIIGEN laboratory in France, discovered that traces of 'Roundup' the ubiquitous Monsanto herbicide, were appearing in the blood tissue of animals being fed GM animal feeds (soy/maize) bred to be resistant to 'Roundup Ready' weed-killer formulations.

THE RESEARCHERS FOUND THESE FORMULATIONS KILLED ANIMAL CELLS, AND AT CONCENTRATIONS FAR BELOW THE RECOMMENDED AGRICULTURAL USE LEVELS.

the killer at the door..

When one combines the information from the above two paragraphs one cannot fail to see the human and animal health 'government licensed' 'corporate sponsored' time-bomb that is now ticking out its toxic poison amongst us.

GOVERNMENTS, HAVING FULL KNOWLEDGE OF THIS INFORMATION, WHO THEN FAIL TO TAKE ACTION BY INTRODUCING PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES, AMOUNTING TO AN IMMEDIATE BAN OF ALL GM FOODS AND FEEDS, WILL BE HELD CULPABLE OF KNOWINGLY SUPPORTING THE LIKELY GENOCIDE OF THEIR OWN CITIZENS.

In solidarity, Julian and Jadwiga
