Was Reuters wrong?
Kavitha Kuruganti of the India-based NGO, the Alliance for Sustainable & Holistic Agriculture (ASHA), has said on Twitter that the Reuters article announcing that the country’s GMO regulator GEAC has approved GM mustard is incorrect.
Reuters cited anonymous sources as saying, “Technical clearance for indigenously developed GM mustard seeds was given on Aug. 11 by the panel of government and independent experts [GEAC] following multiple reviews of crop trial data generated over almost a decade.”
Kuruganti called Reuters’ claim “inaccurate reporting” and asked, “What's the game, I wonder!”
There has not been any official announcement from GEAC.
