The European Parliament just voted to reject that GM maize 1507 should be authorised to be grown in Europe's fields.

http://www.europarl.europa.eu/sides/getDoc.do?type=MOTION&reference=B7-2014-0007&language=EN

The motion passed with 385 against authorisation, 201 in favour, 30 abstaining.

That's great news. However, it's vital to keep up the pressure by writing to EU member state governments via
www.stopthecrop.org
--since tomorrow, representatives of the EU's national governments will start making their own decisions about the authorisation for cultivation of GM maize 1507.

GM maize 1507 is the first GM maize that could be authorised for cultivation since 1998, and only the 2nd GM crop overall.
